Women Who Inspire Me Essay Writing Contest

Ms. Marjorie Dupati-6 Social Studies

Wade Carpenter Middle School

Ms. Dupati had her students from her 6 Grade Social Studies participate in the Women Who Inspire Me Essay Writing Contest.  She actively promoted this event with her students and 105 students produced their best essays.  According to Ms. Dupati, “The Essay Contest helps to develop a sense of respect and appreciation for people whom we take for granted, and strive to emulate the values that Women have kept through the centuries across the world.”  The Essay Contest was also a great opportunity to showcase the Wade Carpenter Instructional Focus of Justify and Tell Me Why.

Ms. Cassandra Becerra, staff member from Congressman Grijalva’s Office, stated that she was “blown away” when the office received the 105 essays from her class at Wade Carpenter.  This was a record amount of essays submitted by a teacher, school, or district in Congressman Grijalva’s district (from Santa Cruz County to Pima County to Yuma County to Maricopa County).  The Contest has taken place over the last five years.

Wade Carpenter students produced 105 to the 150 Essays that were submitted to Congressman Grijalva’s Office.
