Dear WCMS Parents and Students,
Welcome parents and students to a new school year at Wade Carpenter Middle School! This year has brought many changes and one of those is a new principal.  I am excited to be a part of the Nogales Unified School District and serve the Nogales community.  I have been involved in education for the last fifteen years.  I believe in providing the best education possible to my students and I can’t wait to get to meet your children.  We are incredibly excited, and have been working hard on plans for distance learning and to have students safely on our campus when the State and our District have determined that we can have in-person classes again. Here at WCMS we always strive to find ways to be even better than we have been before! As we begin School Year 2020-21, we pledge to you, our parents and students that we are taking precautions to keep your students safe and to provide engaging learning opportunities. All students will attend school virtually from August 5th through August 14th.  Classes will be held through Google Classroom and Edgenuity.  As we get more information on the opening of schools, we will communicate the plans to you.
Early this week, students will get invitations for google classroom from each of their teachers (one for each of our seven periods)  To get to these invitations, students will select their g-mail account at the bottom of the screen (if you have a school issued chromebook)  For students using their own devices, you will need to log into google and the student’s gmail. For technical support, please call 520-397-7919 extension 7919. Students should accept these invitations for each class.  On August 5th, students should log in to their 1st period google classroom at 8:00 a.m. and will follow the attached virtual schedule.  Student’s first period teacher will take attendance and instruct them on how to use google classroom and edgenuity.
Again, we welcome you to Wade Carpenter Middle School and to our wonderful professional learning community. Wade Carpenter is a place alive with energy, enthusiasm, and a high standard of excellence! It is indeed a place where opportunities abound! After all, AWESOME LIVES HERE!

Go Eagles!

Dear Parents,
As you are aware, Nogales Unified School District #1 will begin online classes for all students beginning Wednesday, August 5, 2020.  While students are attending these online classes, NUSD #1, along with Sodexo, will be providing a breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday.
You must be a student enrolled at NUSD #1 in order to receive the free meals.  A parent or child may pick up the meal but must provide the student name and school to the lunch clerk.  Attached please find the schedule where meals will be available for pick up.  In addition, all school sites will be available for curbside pick up from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

Thank you!

Good afternoon--

As parents of NUSD students enrolled for the 2020-2021 school year, you are invited to complete a survey. As you know, school will begin online for all students on Aug. 5, 2020. If and when school is permitted to occur in-person, later during the fall semester, all parents will have the option of 1) having their child remain working online, 2) transitioning to a hybrid model (both online and in-person), or 3) transitioning to in-person instruction.

Please assist us in planning for school by completing this survey to select the model you will want for your child when in-person instruction can safely begin. Your feedback is important and will enable us to plan appropriately for your child's instruction. Click on the link below to begin the survey:

A message from the Principal.

We want to share with you some important updates that have happened here at Wade Carpenter, especially over the last week.  On Monday, February 24, we had Imagine Math (our online math program) Professional Development for the entire Math Team.  An Imagine Math Trainer spent the whole day with our Math Teachers.  The Math Trainer observed our math teachers and offered some strategies that can be implemented when the students are using Imagine Math.  At the Governing Board Meeting on February 24, four of our students were recognized for winning state titles at the Middle School Girls Cheer Competition.  Superintendent Parra presented our students with certificates of recognition.
On Wednesday, February 26, our ELA Team received Professional Development for Achieve 3000, our online reading program.  The Achieve 3000 Trainer shared some strategies our ELA Teachers can implement over the next month as we get closer to the AZM2 State Test in late March.  During the Early Release Meeting of February 26, our entire staff received training on Trauma Informed Care from Ms. Sonia Sanchez of Circles of Peace.  A guest presenter, Ms. Robin Blumenthal from Tucson, shared some Love and Logic strategies that our staff can use with our students.  The main focus of this program is to improve the relationships between teachers and students.
The highlight of this past week at Wade Carpenter involved the installation of the Ben's Bells Be Kind Mural.  We had some of our parents from the Parent Council volunteer their time during the entire day on Thursday, February 27.  Our parents worked in collaboration with the Artists from Ben's Bells and our Be Kind Mural is now complete.  We want to invite all of our Wade Carpenter families to come and observe this beautiful Be Kind Mural.  You could see the energy, pride, and enthusiasm from our students, parents, and staff as the Be Kind Mural was being built.
We had many Guest Readers on March 2 read to our students for Read Across America Day. Superintendent Fernando Parra, Assistant Superintendent Angel Canto, and County Attorney George Silva were just a few of our special community officials that spent their morning here at WCMS.  Make sure to be here for our Parent/Teacher Conferences on March 4, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  We look forward to your visit with our excellent teachers to discuss the academic achievement of your student.
